Citizens had complained

Further information was disclosed about the fire that destroyed a warehouse in the Point St. Charles, yesterday in Montreal.

Citizens, grouped in a coalition, had made several approaches to the business owner ceases operations. They feared for their safety.

The direction of the district southwest of Montreal had recently ordered the landlord to terminate the storage before the end of October. The storage of tons of paper had started last year in this old factory CN. The paper has fed the flames, which completely destroyed the warehouse with an area of 450 000 square feet.

The fire is under control, but some thirty firefighters remain in place. Firefighters can not confirm if the fire was of criminal origin. They expect to remain on site much of the day.
